What Is QuickBooks?

QuickBooks is an accounting software program from Intuit designed for small businesses to simplify their business accounting processes. The program is powerful enough to handle all your bookkeeping needs yet relatively easy to use (even for those with no formal accounting training).  More importantly, the software helps small business owners save time and money by organizing all business finances in one place.
  • Easy to Use
  • Easy to Learn
  • Packed with Features
  • Powerful Reporting
  • Scalable (Company Growth)
As the market share leader, QuickBooks boasts over 4 million small business users in North America. QuickBooks offers a wide range of products targeted to various business sectors such as small businesses (Pro & Premier), retailers (Point of Sale), and larger companies (Enterprise).  There are also specialized editions that focus on businesses such as contracting, manufacturing & wholesale, and non-profit.

What is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor?

A QuickBooks ProAdvisor is considered an expert in most or all features of the program.  Loggins Kern & McCombs have several ProAdvisors available to assist with all your QuickBooks support and training needs.  They have been trained using a rigorous curriculum developed by Intuit. They must pass a comprehensive examination that covers all features of the software program to become certified. Additionally, ProAdvisors must pass this certification each year when a new version of the software is released.  Not all ProAdvisors are the same; there are different levels of ProAdvisor certification: Desktop, Desktop Advanced, as well as Point of Sale and Enterprise.

What are the benefits of using a QuickBooks ProAdvisor?

Our ProAdvisors have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the software and its powerful features.  Our ProAdvisors can determine if QuickBooks is right for your business, then determine which product mix will meet your specific needs.  They can help small business owners utilize customized reports to help identify profitable areas of their company as well as identify business trends in order to adjust business strategy where needed. Our ProAdvisors not only have expertise in QuickBooks, but they also have knowledge of accounting and tax preparation.  They understand the challenges you face in your small business and can offer guidance, answer complex accounting questions, assist with payroll or work as a liaison with your payroll company and utilize advanced features such as accountant cleanup and data repair to help you work as efficiently as possible. Our ProAdvisors can help you learn to use and customize QuickBooks to help you increase productivity, maximize efficiency and monitor your company’s performance with different cost-effective solutions.

QuickBooks Training Options to Meet Your Needs & Budget

We feel that your success in QuickBooks is directly related to the training you receive. A good understanding of the fundamentals of the software is important, but detailed knowledge of the functions you use most is very important.  We offer several training options targeted to meet your individual needs and budget. Classroom – taught at our Jonesboro office by one of our Advanced ProAdvisors.  This class covers the basics of the program targeted at small business owners.  You will learn how to use QuickBooks to build cash flow, the top five reports to review daily, how to set up QuickBooks, how to correctly process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking transactions.  Classes are held once per month from May to January. The class lasts for four hours.  We provide a box lunch for a bonus half-hour where you can get answers to specific questions and share ideas with classmates.  All classes are limited to five students and include a bound training manual which is yours to keep.  The cost is $200.   Click below to reserve a spot or request more information on the next scheduled class.

One-on-One– These sessions are taught individually at our office in Jonesboro by one of our ProAdvisors.  You will be able to work on your data file in our private QuickBooks training office. The curriculum is made by you covering only the items you need assistance with.  Generally, our staff instructs on the desired topic, gets you started and lets you work on your data file independently.  The benefit is that you only pay for the training time while the instructor is actually working one-on-one with you.  The cost is $100 per diem of training time.

Onsite – Our ProAdvisors come to your business location and cover the software features you request.  The benefit of this training option is that you are in your comfort zone using your own computer equipment.  You have all your regular office resources available to you while training.  The ProAdvisor is available during the time at your office to answer questions from owners, bookkeepers, or other office personnel who use the software. The cost is $100 per hour the ProAdvisor is at your location.

Remote – Our ProAdvisors remotely connect to your computer to demonstrate the features of the software. This is an ideal solution for troubleshooting issues and for quick tutorials without requiring travel time for either the trainer or your staff.

QuickBooks Services

Company Setup – While QuickBooks is easy for those who are not experts in accounting or bookkeeping, the initial setup is crucial. An accurate setup of your company’s data file requires someone with good knowledge of accounting principles and the flow of financial data.  Small business owners can save time and resources by utilizing one of the ProAdvisors from Loggins Kern & McCombs.  We can customize the setup to best meet the needs of your industry. If your company data has already been set up, our ProAdvisors can review your setup to identify and correct errors.   If your software is not working the way you expected, we can find problems and repair damaged transactions.

Diagnostics – We will review the data in your QuickBooks file and supporting documents based on specific issues you request.  After our review, we will prepare a recommendation for each issue you have listed. These recommendations may include correcting journal entries, suggested training, or changes in QuickBooks lists, preferences, or other features. Upon your approval, we will then execute and implement the above recommendations.

Tune-Up – We will review your accounts on the balance sheet and income statement, your transactions for the year, and your existing QuickBooks setup. We will balance the general ledger to subsidiary records. We will make suggestions for improvement in areas where we see errors and improper use of QuickBooks. We will also identify areas where you may not be utilizing QuickBooks software to the fullest. These include customizing reports and forms, changing QuickBooks preferences, and adding features such as class tracking. We will answer your questions and provide personalized training as needed.

Other Services – QuickBooks accounting service is available for those small businesses who do not want to hire an in-house bookkeeper.  On a monthly basis, we will enter all accounting transactions into your QuickBooks company file. This may include any or all of the following accounting functions:  Banking, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Sales Tax, Inventory, and Payroll.  This service may also include preparation of required state and federal reporting for payroll or sales tax on a weekly, monthly or annual basis.
